the Each Week, One Beast project: week 10

Crazed squirrel taking five. Everyone is acting a little nutty around here, what with the lengthening daylight and the thrill of spring on the breeze.

I've discovered there's a challenge in this beastie project, and here it is: not only do I have to draw one beast each week, but I also have to draw ONLY ONE beast each week. There are so many other projects on the table, but the temptation is to push them aside and keep drawing little animals until I get one I like. Finishing one, then heaving it over my shoulder into the pile of rejects and shouting "well this is a piece of crap!" is not productive. So, sometimes I've got to post something I'm not real proud of, to stay on target. That's just part of the Grand Mediocrity of things, I guess. Which is not a judgement on this squirrel. This squirrel has his own problems to deal with, none of which concern my rendering of him.

I cannot, for the life of me, ever envision you drawing 'crap'. That said though, we are always the most critical of our own work. I rather like your squirrel, he has that cheeky "what do you mean this fruit tree isn't mine for the eating" sort of stare. Oh wait, maybe I'm projecting, that's what MY squirrels are say to me. Uh oh, maybe I'm nuts too :P As for your picture of the goat...Tufty...he inspired us to add a new goat to the farm this week ;)

Love this squirrel.

Working in series, on project, teaches us artists many things...and produces a pile or two of work; every one is worthwhile, but maybe not our favorite.

Our squirrels have been busy re-vamping birdfeeder access around here, aided by the increasing height of snow piles.

I like him. It's been warm here in Colorado all week, but today we are having a spring snow storm and I've been worrying about the nutty squirrel who lives in the big tree outside our apartment. I bet he's shivering in his little squirrel nest.

I love the squirrel! He looks evil, just like the real squirrels that are eating everything in my garden, including the garden.

Love the way he is standing on his own foot. Now if only he'll trip and fall off the branch and hit his head...

Can you tell I have trouble with squirrels!
