Rosa rubrifolia is the first rose to bloom in my garden, and maybe my favorite. Delicate and wildly graceful... she is everything the rest of my roses, with their crappy foliage and unfortunate forms, are not. I have her growing in The Thicket, which is a tight mass of Hydrangea arborescens, Black Lace elderberry, peony, lavender, bronze fennel, and assorted other roses. There might also be trolls, or at least toads, living in The Thicket, too - it is good dark habitat.

Your rosa rubrifolia is splendid! And I love your description of most roses as having "crappy foliage and unfortunate forms" - too true! Your Thicket looks magical.
One of my favourites, too! I especially like using the foliage in flower arrangements. The hips are a lovely glossy scarlet, too. No bad points to this rose!
And I agree, your Thicket does look magical!
As a recent and reluctant convert to rosaphilia, I must admit I like rubrifolia. Perhaps I can find a spot for it in Shohola.
The Thicket sounds wonderful!
