Budding

We are having a long, cool drink of spring in Pennsylvania, and I love it. I disagree with my neighbors... The soaking rain, the frosty nights, the stormy black-and-blue clouds - it all spells spring to me. The longer the low temps last, the more I can admire the unfurlings in my garden, and those rare creatures that break out of the buds on Scranton's back alley weed trees...

Perhaps you are a little ahead of us. Here in Shohola there are no Sanguineria yet but the Hepatica is up. And the Trillium are just opening. I'm hoping for a window of dryness tomorrow so I can at least rake out my own beds. Have you done yours?

Aaaah, you perfectly captured all the masses of miniature explosions of color happening right now. Miss you guys!

Beautiful photos of unfurling foliage and blooms. It is fun to savor spring. Here, after a slow start, we seem to suddenly be lurching headlong toward summer. Just a scarce few daffodils and apple blossoms remain in our gardens. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Great photos, and I just love to hear people appreciating their rain. I wish we'd get more of it down here this spring.
